Overview

Bidders must register at least 7 days in advance and receive a bidder number by email. Sales are managed by the Sheriff's Office at 436 Grant Street, Pittsburgh.
Allegheny County is the second-largest county in Pennsylvania and home to one of the most active sheriff sale markets in the state. The county covers Pittsburgh and over 120 surrounding municipalities, boroughs, and townships. Properties range from city row houses and suburban single-family homes to vacant lots and multi-family buildings.
The county switched to virtual auctions during the pandemic and has maintained the Microsoft Teams format since. This means you can bid from anywhere — no need to physically attend the courthouse at 436 Grant Street.

Key Notes for Allegheny County Investors
Failing to pay the 10% deposit results in a ban from future sales.
The Sheriff's Office cannot provide property access or keys; no walk-throughs available.
Sales may be postponed up to 130 days without a court order, retaining the original sale number.
A writ stay, court order, bankruptcy filing, or full payment can halt a sale.
Buyers must pursue legal ejectment if someone is still residing at the property after purchase.
Tax sales for unpaid taxes are separate; contact the Pittsburgh Treasurer's Office at 412-255-2300.
Investor Tip
Allegheny County requires the full balance by the Monday following the sale — one of the shorter payment windows in Pennsylvania. Have your funds fully arranged before bidding. Dauphin County is even faster (same day by 2 PM), but most other PA counties give you 10–30 days.
